Nature and Wildlife
Ruby Country has some great wildlife. The country is particulary known for the rare grassland habitat known as culm. It gets its name from the underlying geology - the Carboniferous Culm Measures. This rock produces wet and acidic soils, which has resulted in the development of culm grassland. Although culm grassland looks a bit wet and boggy over the winter, come the spring and summer it comes to life with fantastic displays of colour.
