As part of Devon Hedgerow week there will be a guided walk at Beer Mill Farm, Clawton on Wednesday 27th October 2010 Please park in the school car park and assemble at Beer Mill gate (track beside the school wall) for 2 pm start – there will be a guided walk through Beer Mill Farm and Nature Reserve to look at medieval hedgerows, discover the importance of hedgerows to our wildlife, see restored hedgerows and the results of traditional hedge-laying techniques compared to hedgerows awaiting restoration, a chance to gather and sample some of the fruits and nuts which are such a vital wildlife foodstore, followed by refreshments and homemade hedgerow jams, jellies in Wildlife Activity Room. The walk will last for up to 2 hours and will cover rough, wet and uneven ground unsuitable for wheelchairs or buggies. A shorter walk can be arranged for those with limited mobility. Please wear robust clothing/footwear ideally wellies. There is no charge for this event but booking is advisable so that the walk does not set off without you !
